Milmo Needs More Time™ is a gentle, regulation-first breathing and tracing tool created for children who feel overwhelmed, rushed, or dysregulated. This resource supports slowing down without requiring compliance, verbal processing, or finishing a task.


Instead of step-by-step breathing instructions, this tool offers:

  • a soft visual tracing path

  • simple breathing cues (“In… / Out…”)

  • permission-based language (“You can pause.”)

This makes it especially supportive for:

  • autistic and neurodivergent learners

  • anxious or overwhelmed students

  • children who shut down when asked to “use coping skills”

  • classrooms and homes that value regulation over behavior control

An optional companion breathing song is included via QR code for children who benefit from auditory pacing. The printable works fully on its own, the music is supportive, not required.

HOW TO USE

This resource is intentionally flexible and low-pressure.


Children may:

  • trace the path with a finger

  • trace with a pencil or crayon

  • color the page

  • watch the path or light movement

  • pause or stop at any time

There is no need to finish the path and no “right way” to use this tool.

Adults may gently model or say:

  • “You can go slow.”

  • “You can pause.”

  • “There’s no rush.”

Silence is also support.
